Weddings and Monsoons

This past weekend we went to the wedding of a good friend. It was a gorgeous wedding and a fun ceremony. It's fun going to weddings now that I am thinking of my own wedding! :) The highlights of this wedding 1) was the bride! She was beautiful! And her look makes me second guess wanting a strapless dress!
The beautiful bride and I
The reception was great! 2) The best part was seeing friends and catching up. 3) fried asparagus is really good! I want more of that man! 4) The cake was phenomenal an almond cake with amaretto filling! 5) The dancing was fun. All around a wonderful wedding!
Nick and I at the wedding!

Matt (the groom) broke out a little strip show (only the vest) it was pretty funny!

Dancing their last dance of the night! Don't they look good!
After a great night at the wedding, the next day we hit the road to start moving and boy what an ordeal Sunday ended up being. We started early morning moving from my mom's to my apartment, to Nick's. So everything was easier than expected to start the day with the exception of a TV box that won't fit anywhere except in the truck bed. So there it went. We bungeed it in and an exit up the road had to rearrange as it blew around on the bungee. Once that was set it was smooth sailing to my apartment and the day was looking easy.

Once at my apartment, we moved  lightning speed unloading, reloading, taking doors down, putting doors back up. We were going to beat this impending storm! We were determined! We had a turn around of under an hour. As we were filling up at the station when I asked if we should tarp the furniture. Nick and I disgreed but with his dad as the tie breaker/expert, the verdict was to tarp the furniture! Let me clarify now the TV box got nixed and ended up in the cab of the truck where it was completely safe from the rain!

Nick and I were going to meet at Walmart. He wasn't showing, and wasn't showing. At this point I was standing in the rain waiting. Nick had stopped under the gas awning just in time thanks to ingenious thinking!

By the time I bought the tarps it was raining cats and dogs. Even under the awning we were getting drenched as the rain blew in. We were racing to try to put tarps under and all around and tied down. Finally we finish as the rain stops!
We decided to get lunch and dry off and....the keys get locked in the truck! Thanks to OnStar it was an easy fix just time consuming. What more can go wrong?? Well two more stops later we finally had the tarp situation fully secured. Nothing was going anywhere and Nick hit the road through rain and storm because he is AMAZING! He did so much driving and moving for me! This is why I love him so much! And my furniture made it safe and sound with only minor water damage!

Post Hunting

The same day as the last post we went to an engagement party for mutual friends. It was a great time and quite a feast! Including Georgetown Cupcakes! And the verdict is delicious! My favorite was the Mint Cookies and Cream cupcake, followed by the Chocolate Ganache. The other one I tried was the Coconut. Very good and interesting flavors.

The next day we took off for the Washington Post, Post Hunt! This is a scavenger puzzle solving time around DC. It's free and teams compete to solve puzzles based on clues for $2000. You can check out Washington Post Hunt 2011  for a description of the clues and solutions.

On the metro

We don't know this guy fixing his bike on the metro

Helmet safety! Even on the metro

Crowds were forming waiting for the first locations.

Looking back at the crowds

So you get five locations that are five clues. You need to solve the five clues which lead to hints that create another clue that is helpful in solving the final puzzle. This was the first of the five clues we went to. A contortionist was hired to give us the clue and the key was realizing what she was upside down during.

The second clue was HARD we didn't get it even! The vanity here was missing the mirror from the one in the picture in our magazine. So we were supposed to tear the mirror out of the magazine. Simple enough now! We were no where close.

On our journey we saw the Washington Monument...
 The White House....
 And the Capital...
Nick was busy working on the final puzzle while the others were off checking up on leads. After checking other multiple sites, Nick finally got them to the right location and they rest of the group minus us solved the next few steps from there. Unfortunately three teams had already finished!
But Khak Attack did great while looking good! :) Can't wait until next year!

Furniture, Printers, Bedding-Oh My!

A couple of weekends ago (as I am behind in our adventures) Nick and I had a very eventful weekend. After having a successful yardsale! My classmates and I had a joint yard sale to rid ourselves of excess furniture, junk, bedding, junk, printers, junk, and chairs, etc. before we move. We were up at the crack of dawn and trust me people came out just as early.

We had quite the assortment of odd things and of course people wanted the most obscure things before the more valuable belongings. The people were very interesting. We had a little thief child stealing toys and a real live healer who tried to heal Lindsey's cut foot. At the end of the day we put everything out for free and the cars came quick and loaded up! All in all got rid of all my stuff and made a little bit of spending money! During the course of the day I watched this flower open up. Unfortunately the neighbor picked the flower before I could finish getting my montage of the opening.
